The student visa process for Nigerian students can be very different depending on the country you are applying to.

AUSTRALIA VISA

The student visa you need depends on your chosen course of study. As a guide, the typical key requirements you will need to meet are: Issued an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) certificate. Meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant requirements. Have sufficient funds for airfares, course fees and living costs. Show English language proficiency. Meet health and character requirements. Acceptable Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). International students undertaking formal studies in Australia, and their dependents (for example, spouses and children under 18 years old), must obtain OSHC. It includes cover for visits to the doctor, some hospital treatment, ambulance cover and limited pharmaceuticals (medicines).

CANADA VISA

To study in Canada you will require a study permit. A study permit is a document which is issued by the Canadian government that allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLI) in Canada. Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. Make sure you have all the documents you need before you apply. You should apply before you travel to Canada.

Your study permit is not a visa. It doesn’t let you enter Canada. You may also need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA). If your study permit is approved you will be issued one so you can travel to Canada.

Can you go back home while studying?

Yes. If you leave Canada during your studies, you may need to show proof you’re enrolled in your school when you return to Canada.

If you have a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA), it must still be valid when you return to Canada.

NEWZEALAND VISA

To receive a New Zealand student visa, you have to prove that you have enough money to pay for living expenses, education costs and travel for your entire stay in New Zealand. To get a New Zealand student visa you may also require: Offer letter: The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) offer letter to international students, which lists minimum course duration, course fees and whether the fees are applicable at domestic or foreign rates. Guarantee of Stay (for students aged under 18 years): A written document from an institution or person that states that the student has suitable accommodation arranged in New Zealand. Health and medical requirements: If you are staying in New Zealand for more than six months then you need to be screened for tuberculosis. For a longer stay, medical and X-ray certificates need to be provided. Proof of English:Most education providers do consider your English scores in Matric or A-Level.

UK VISA

When you apply for the visa you must provide: a current passport or other valid travel documentation proof that you can support yourself and pay for your course – this will vary depending on your circumstances proof of parental or other legal guardian consent if you’re under 18 your tuberculosis test results if you’re from a country where you have to take the test You need a page in your passport that’s blank on both sides for your visa. You may also need to provide additional documents depending on your circumstances. Your documents will usually be sent back within 14 days. If you are applying for a visa to come to the UK for more than six months you will need to pay an additional NHS health surcharge of £150 per year. This includes students applying from within the UK or from outside the UK.

USA VISA

The USA student visa or F-1 visa (Academic Student) allows an individual to enter the United States as a full-time USA student at an accredited college, university or other academic institution. A student must be enrolled in a program or course of study that culminates in a degree, diploma or certificate and the school must be authorised by the US government to accept international students.
